We all know how hot and rainy it has been, so we won't talk about that today. Misleading tittle!
What I wanted to talk about was an older brother with a birthday today. Since I'm not much younger, I remember some of what that time period was like. We lived in a one room structure when I was born. No electricity, no "running water", except when it rained. No modern conveniences at all. You may think "How awful"! Uncomfortable maybe, but do you know people "get away on vacations" today to experience this kind of life? They do take things to make outdoor cooking easier and cellphones to communicate. No, they miss the whole experience of what everyday life was like for us. We weren't going to travel back to the air conditioned house with automatic washers and dryers and fancy cooking appliances, indoor plumbing and TV"s, what is that? by the way. We made up our games, family time was at the end of the day when our parents actually took time to enjoy us, no matter how tired they were. "Happy Birthday" to my brother that is a real survivor in so many ways.
